Unknowingly using certain words or phrases that people with relevant protected characteristics perceive to possess ‘offensive’ characteristics could amount to harassment under section 26 of the Equality Act 2010 (EqA), a senior circuit judge of the Employment Appeal Tribunal has said.
That seems extremely ridiculous. It doesn't sound like the accent comment was made to degrade this overly sensitive lady, but to help her improve her job performance. The end result if she gets her way will be work environments where no constructive feedback can ever be given lest it be maliciously misconstrued as "harassment".
